Andermatt-Sedrun Sport AGSustainability on the mountain
All of our lifts and snow-making equipment in Andermatt and Sedrun are operated with renewable energy. We draw most of the water used for making snow from the streams and lakes found on the mountain, and it returns there after the ski season.
Making snow.But smartly
The Andermatt-Sedrun Sport AG snow-making equipment is state of the art in terms of efficiency and effectiveness in technical snow making. We plan to replace older equipment in the coming years.
Snow.Our most valuable asset
We practice snow farming and cover large snow depots with fleece in the spring. The preserved snow can be used again in the autumn to groom the slopes. By doing so, the Andermatt-Sedrun Sport AG saves on energy and costs for artificial snow making.
- 100 %Carbon-neutral electricity for operation and snow making
- 75 %of the fleece-covered snow remains intact over the summer
Perfect pistes.Precisely calculated
The SnowSat system, which measures snow cover as an aid in slope grooming, enables us to create perfect pistes for guests and at the same to protect the environment: We produce only as much snow as is actually needed.
Green.The snow groomer, too.
Andermatt-Sedrun Sport AG now has a hybrid PistenBully. Compared with a diesel vehicle, it cuts the emission of greenhouse gases by 20% and soot particulate by 99%.
Glaciers. Stopping the retreat
For nearly 20 years, the Gurschen glacier has been put under a blanket of snow and white fleece each spring. This slows the melting of the glacier ice during the summer.
Together with Cleantech Agentur Schweiz (“act”), we have taken steps to lower energy consumption and CO₂ emissions. We have exceeded the that targets have been agreed to with act every year since 2015.
Andermatt-Sedrun Sport AG encourages travel to the resort using public transportation. The SkiExpress coach brings guests from larger Swiss cities directly to the ski area. Andermatt-Sedrun Sport AG also works with RailAway to offer an attractive ticket that combines travel to Andermatt with a ski pass.
The employees of the Andermatt-Sedrun Sport AG receive fair wages, contemporary employment terms in line with the market, and social insurance. All people enjoy equal rights at Andermatt-Sedrun Sport AG .
For the next generation of staff. At the cableways
Andermatt-Sedrun Sport AG employs 70 people in the summer season and about 200 in the winter season. We offer apprenticeships for gondola mechatronic technicians. We currently employ four apprentices. In this way, we are securing the next generation of staff and making a contribution to maintaining the Swiss cableways industry.
Local.Rooted
Where possible, local companies perform maintenance work that our team cannot handle directly. That way, we keep travel distances short and preserve value creation in the region.
Swisstainable.Engaged in the long term
