SkiArena Andermatt-Sedrun and Protect Our Winters Switzerland agree on partnership

October 29, 2018
The agreed measures focus on the two key issues of mobility and gastronomy.

Together, the two partners are showing guests in a simple way how a well-developed public transport offer can reduce the environmental footprint of travel to and from the holiday region as well as mobility within it. Amongst other things, discount days are planned on which both train tickets and ski passes will be heavily discounted in order to promote travel by public transport.

The two partners are breaking new ground in gastronomy. More ingredients from the region will be used, all mountain restaurants will completely avoid the use of plastic and PET bottles, and water is available free of charge in all the restaurants. These measures are being supplemented with events and flyers and posters that show guests how everyone can reduce their own CO2 emissions and thus contribute to climate protection.

With this partnership, which is exclusive for Switzerland, the SkiArena can continue its efforts not only to offer its guests an excellent winter sport experience but also to sensitize them about climate protection in collaboration with its partner POW Switzerland. Because as passionate winter sport fans, it is in our own interest to strive to protect the climate.

The NGO Protect Our Winters Switzerland is the leading voice of the outdoor community against climate change and is part of the global POW network. POW works with its athletes, partners and members to protect the climate and preserve the winter.

Andermatt Swiss Alps AG

From vision to destination: During the past several years, Andermatt has developed into a popular year-round holiday resort with numerous attractive features: apartment buildings, hotels and chalets, a Scottish-style 18-hole golf course that offers golfers a welcome challenge, and the SkiArena, not only one of the most modern ski regions in Switzerland but also the largest in Central Switzerland, with pistes from Andermatt to Sedrun and Disentis. With its perfect blend of alpine simplicity and urban sophistication, the five-star deluxe hotel The Chedi Andermatt exudes a special magic, as does the Radisson Blu Hotel Reussen, with its public indoor pool and wellness-and-fitness area. More apartment buildings and hotels will be built in the forthcoming years.
