New mobility in the Gotthard region: Alpine Mobility Association formed

The Ursern Valley can be reached quickly and easily from all directions using the train and, in summer, also the PostBus. But once people arrive, there are only limited public transportation options on offer. This was the reason for forming the Alpine Mobility Association. It is committed to developing a customised, sustainable mobility offer that complements public transportation and provides maximum flexibility to residents of the region, employees of local firms and guests – without the need to rely on their own vehicle. In that way, the association is making a contribution to the quality of life in the Gotthard region, as well as to its long term, ecological development.

Association membership: Say and participation

Membership in Alpine Mobility is open to anyone who is interested. Dues vary in amount depending on the type of membership, as does the degree of say and participation. The association does not pursue any commercial purposes and does not seek to make a profit. Members benefit in a number of ways, such as reduced fares, their own virtual bus stops and sharing in the operating result. In addition, they receive access to innovative, pioneering projects in the area of mobility. The first project is being launched this summer: the pilot operation of mybuxi , the flexible complement to bus and train.

mybuxi: Individual mobility for rural regions

In small towns and in the countryside, there are far fewer public transportation options than in urban areas. In many cases, there are no good alternatives to using one’s own car. mybuxi intends to close this gap. Thanks to new technology and a more efficient selection of routes, people will become independently mobile without a car – even in more remote regions – at affordable prices.

Simple, innovative and sustainable

mybuxi vehicles are ordered using the mybuxi app. Users enter the pick-up time and location, as well as the destination, and select the number of passengers. Other passengers who have booked a trip in the same direction can join the ride along the way. Known as pooling, this assures that vehicles are optimally utilised. mybuxi is thus a combination bus (jointly used vehicle) and taxi (on-demand ride). It uses electric cars operated with ecopower.

With the offer in Andermatt and the surrounding area, mybuxi is operating in a mountain region for the first time. Vehicles will initially be in service daily from 6:00 a.m. to 1:00 a.m. The town of Andermatt is also participating in the pilot project. It is convinced that by complementing the public transportation options, this offer will make the region even more attractive.
