Getting around

Discover Andermatt and the region on foot or on wheels

It’s easy to discover Andermatt’s immediate surroundings on foot, by bicycle, or, during the winter, with good shoes or snow shoes. But you have other options, too.

On foot

Distances in and around Andermatt are short. That means it’s very easy to explore the immediate surroundings on foot. Discover the trails along the banks of the Furkareuss or Unteralpreuss rivers or take a walk through the historic village quarter of Andermatt.

Do you prefer it comfortable? Then you can rent an e-scooter at the Gleis 0 sports shop, which will take you around at a speed of 20 kilometres per hour. The e-scooters can be driven from the age of 16 without a driver's licence, from 14 to 16 a moped licence is required. The daily rental including helmet is 20 Swiss francs.

By bike

You’ll need a bit of physical strength, but you’ll find a variety of routes around Andermatt, each with its own challenges. You can also explore the high valley by bike – it's mostly flat. Or rent an e-bike or e-mountain bike from one of the sports shops and let the battery do the main work.

mybuxi – mobility service

mybuxi is an innovative combination of bus and taxi. The ride service offers maximum flexibility – without needing an own vehicle and at affordable prices. mybuxi vehicles are ordered using the mybuxi app. Users enter the pick-up time and location, as well as the destination, and select the number of passengers. Other passengers who have booked a trip in the same direction can join the ride along the way. Known as pooling, this assures that vehicles are optimally utilised. mybuxi is thus a combination bus (jointly used vehicle) and taxi (on-demand ride). It uses electric cars operated with eco-power. The vehicles can be booked daily from 6 am to 1 am in Andermatt and the surrounding area.

By bus or coach

In winter, the free village bus will bring you to the valley stations of the Gütsch Express and the Gemsstock lift, the railway station, and outlying districts, as well as to Hospental.

In summer, PostBus operates several coaches that depart from the Andermatt railway station and travel across the various passes in the region.

By train

The Matterhorn Gotthard Railway operates year-round. From Andermatt, you can easily travel as far as the canton of Grisons or to Goms in Valais. Even Lucerne and Ticino are not far away and can be reached with just one change of trains.

By car or motorcycle

In summer, take a journey over one of the numerous passes around Andermatt. You can quickly reach Ticino, Valais, Grisons, or Lucerne. If you’re looking for a less winding route, take the Gotthard Tunnel, and after just a 30-minute drive, you’ll be enjoying the italianità of the sunny south. A Ubeeqo car is now available in front to the Radisson Blu Hotel Reussen for booking. The vehicle can be booked without a subscription or registration fee. The short-term rentals are charged on the basis of time and distance driven, and the car is available around the clock. Booking is completely digital via the website www.ubeeqo.ch or using the app.
