In the ski region of Andermatt, Sedrun and Disentis, skiers and snowboards will find wide pistes with an offering for every level. With a Mini Ski Cross, the Snowpark on Gemsstock gets the hearts of freestylers pounding harder, and the sun terraces beckon for a well-deserved break.
Searching for the challenge
Gemsstock is not for the faint of heart. For a real rush, take the black piste called Russi Run – named after the Olympic champion Bernhard Russi from Andermatt – which goes from the mountain station at nearly 3,000 metres above sea level to the Gurschenalp mid-station. The vertical drop is 950 metres, and the run is 4.3 kilometres long with a gradient of up to 65 percent. The other pistes on Gemsstock are challenging as well and not suited for beginners. Gemsstock usually opens in late October and offers perfect snow enjoyment for expert skiers into May.
Wide pistes and sunny terraces
Between Andermatt and Disentis, you’ll find mainly red and blue pistes for every level. For an ambitious day of skiing, we recommend covering the entire route on skis or snowboard. The Andermatt-Sedrun and Disentis ski resorts are linked by the Sport Train and the Cuolm da Vi gondola. The trip from the Dieni railway station in the Andermatt-Sedrun ski resort to the Sedrun railway station in the Disentis ski resort takes just five minutes. The train trip is included in the ski pass. Throughout the entire area, enjoy speedy descents on the wide pistes, then head to one of the large restaurant terraces to soak up some sun – always with the impressive mountain panorama right in front of you.
The first runs
The ski area in Andermatt is very well suited for beginning skiers. Especially the slopes on Nätschen are not too steep, and the descent to the valley is via Oberalpstrasse. The wide pistes above Dieni are also outstanding if you’re still somewhat unsteady on skis or snowboard. It's definitely worthwhile to hire a ski instructor for the first attempts on skis. That will assure that skiing or snowboarding is still fun on the second day, too.
Children's pistes
At our ski resort, children learn to ski while having fun. With the colourful KidsArenas in Andermatt and Sedrun and their mascots, the affectionately designed beginner’s areas for children in Disentis, and the child-friendly lifts in Realp, kids won’t even realise that first steps aren’t always so easy. When it’s time for a break, the family restaurants offer play areas and kid’s meals.
